Quoting a fortnight faster, and knowing which work is worth taking

A subcontract machining firm quoting bespoke work off drawings. Estimating was one person, and when that person was on holiday quoting stopped. Job costing happened after the fact, in a spreadsheet, which meant the firm knew whether a job had made money about six weeks after it finished. Certification and traceability paperwork was a filing job nobody wanted.

Five areas: enquiries and estimating, production, quality and traceability, invoicing, people. Plugged into their MRP system, their accounts package and the works inbox.

A worked example, not a delivered client project. Modelled on a real build shape and on published UK subcontract manufacturing benchmarks for quote turnaround and estimating load. The before figures are typical of a firm where estimating sits with one person.
